Description
Unique is the only pineapple guava confirmed reliably self-fertile enough to be planted alone and still crop well; every other cultivar sets more fruit with a second plant nearby. It was found as a chance seedling in a Tauranga, New Zealand orchard and released in 1982.
It ripens very early and bears a prolific crop from a young age, with smooth, mildly aromatic flesh.
