The Eversweet pomegranate was developed in the early 1980s in Lebanon. It is one of the best pomegranate varieties for cooler climates, thriving in coastal temperatures and is cold hardy to 10°F. It likes to be planted in the sunniest place in the yard. The Eversweet’s fruit is not bright red like other pomegranates but is clear and non-staining and is best known for its very sweet flavor. Even immature fruits are sweet. The skin starts out light pink and matures to red. Hummingbirds love the pomegranate’s large, orange-red flowers. Eversweet pomegranates are is self-fruitful and grow 8′-10′ at maturity. Good for zones 7-10.
