Pomegranate (Desertnyi)

The Desertnyi pomegranate is from the famed Turkmenistan collection of Gregory Levin. It is a late season pomegranate and grows best in well-drained soil in a sunny-to-partial-shade location. Desertnyi needs 200 chill hours and are best in zones 7-10. They are hardy to 10° F. The skin is a light terracotta-color with dark-red arils that have a sweet-tart balance, citrusy flavor. They can grow up to 10′ in height and bear fruit 1-2 years after planting.
