Description

Nikita is a vigorous, heavy-bearing pineapple guava selected at the historic Nikita Botanical Garden near Yalta, Ukraine, a center with a long history of breeding cold-hardy fruiting varieties. It is one of the few feijoa cultivars with a documented Eastern European origin.

The fruit is large and aromatic, with the sweet, richly flavored flesh typical of the best pineapple guavas. Nikita is partially self-fertile, so a single plant sets some fruit, and crops are heavier with a second feijoa flowering nearby.

A mature plant reaches 10 to 12 ft, with dense evergreen foliage and striking red-and-white edible flowers that give it year-round ornamental value alongside a productive harvest.
