Elderberry (Haschberg)

Description

Commercial European variety that is heavily productive with huge clusters of excellent sweet fruit. Great for juice or preserves. Vigorous bushes with large deep green foliage. Bluish black berries. it also makes a fine ornamental shrub growing to about 8 feet tall. This species is partly self-fertile, so it doesn’t require cross pollination, but the yields will be heavier with a second variety planted nearby. Partial shade to full sun, with higher yields in more sun.  It’s best to irrigate them in summer if they are not planted within sight of a creek or pond.
