Fargesia dracocephala ‘Rufa’ is a cold-hardy clumping bamboo native to the mountains of western Sichuan, China- non-invasive, deer-resistant, and evergreen to roughly -10°F- with a graceful arching vase-shaped habit and distinctive orange-red culm sheaths on new spring growth. It is one of the more useful bamboos for privacy screens, hedges, and containers in cool-summer and northern climates.
- True clumping (non-invasive) bamboo- will not spread into the surrounding landscape.
- Cold-hardy- evergreen to roughly -10°F (USDA Zone 6), root-hardy to Zone 5.
