Grape Vine (Seedless Blue Muscat)

★★★★★★★★★★ 5.0 (4 reviews)

$24.99

Seedless Blue Muscat is one of our absolute favorite grapes: dark blue, seedless, juicy, and intensely aromatic, with the unmistakable floral-spice character that makes a good muscat grape so memorable.

  • 🌿 Big muscat flavor in a dark blue seedless table grape.
  • 🌿 Ripens around September in the trade record.
  • 🌿 Self-fertile, so one vine can crop on its own.
  • 🌿 Vigorous enough for an arbor or trellis, with roughly 8 to 10 ft of spread.
  • 🌿 One of Restoring Eden’s absolute favorites.

The bare roots are by far the most established roots that I have ever seen on a bareroot tree.

The packaging for those kiwis was brilliant and by far the best packaging job out of any place I ordered from this year. Your Annas are tough as nails.

The plants look beautiful and healthy. I was impressed by the size and strength of the 3-Cherry Tree.

Description

Seedless Blue Muscat is the grape we reach for when someone wants flavor first. The berries are dark blue, sweet and juicy, but the thing that makes the variety stand out is the aroma: a full muscat fragrance that shows up before the fruit even reaches your mouth.

The vine is the Cornell selection NY 65.483.2, an interspecific hybrid that has circulated under the Seedless Blue Muscat trade name. It also has an interesting family connection in our collection: it is the seed parent of Monastery Muscat.

Give it real sun and a permanent support. In warm-summer regions it is straightforward; in cool maritime summers it benefits from the warmest exposure you can give it. We still love the grape enough to grow it, but around Puget Sound it is not the first vine we recommend when reliable ripening is the only goal.

Additional Notes

  • 🌿 Grower’s Insight: This is one of our absolute favorite grapes at Restoring Eden. The flavor is why we keep coming back to it.
  • 🌿 Regional Insight: It is a strong choice in regions with a warm, sunny summer. In cool maritime climates, use a south- or west-facing exposure or another heat-holding microclimate to help the crop finish.

Planting & Care – Seedless Blue Muscat Grape

Site & Soil

Choose a sunny site with good drainage and room for air to move through the vine. In cooler-summer regions, a south- or west-facing wall, slope, or other warm exposure is especially useful because ripening is helped by every bit of extra heat.

Planting & Watering

Plant at the same depth the vine was growing in the pot and water deeply after planting. Keep the root zone evenly moist through the first season, then water deeply as needed rather than keeping the soil continually wet.

Training & Pruning

Build the support before the vine gets large. Train one or two permanent trunks, then prune every dormant season to keep fruiting wood close to the framework and the canopy open enough for light and air.

Feeding & Canopy Care

Feed moderately. Too much nitrogen makes long soft growth at the expense of ripening. Keep the canopy open and sunny, especially in humid climates, rather than growing a dense wall of leaves.

Harvest

Muscat aroma is part of the ripeness test. Let the berries become fully sweet and fragrant before cutting the cluster; grapes do not continue sweetening after harvest.
