Description
Pingo De Mel—Portuguese for “drop of honey”—is a prized fig variety celebrated for its luscious golden flesh, rich in color like fresh honey, and wrapped in a deep green skin that resists splitting even after heavy rains—a rare advantage over many garden and commercial figs. The fruit is slightly larger than a golf ball—and the plants are remarkably productive, yielding up to 150 figs on a well-branched, 6-foot plant. Hardy to USDA Zone 6, Pingo de Mel is an excellent choice for both northern and southern growers.
