Fig Tree (O’Rourke)

The O’Rourke is yet another excellent fig selection with the favorite Celeste in its parentage. The O’Rourke fig was developed by Dr. Ed O’Rourke in 2007 at the LSU Agricultural Center fig breeding program and is renowned for production, growth habit, hardiness and disease resistance. O’Rourke fruit hangs down when fully ripe. This deciduous fig tree produces great tasting medium-sized brownish-maroon figs with sweet amber-to-strawberry-red flesh. At maturity, it will reach a height and width between 8 to 10 feet. Fruit ripening is earlier than most varieties. A self-fertile fig.
