KSU-Atwood™ Pawpaw was introduced by the Kentucky State University breeding program. The fruit ripens well and is prized for it incredibly heavy crops, 150 or more fruit per tree, and rich and delicious flavor. Pawpaws are indigenous to the Eastern United States, the natural habitat is that of an under-story tree. It will often be found growing in dense groves. Because of this be sure to plant multiple varieties for cross pollination. Care should be taken to give shade for the first few years as they are getting established. Plant as close as 5 feet apart to encourage the roots translocation of nutrients between trees.
